Baked Chicken Parmesan

If you’re looking for an easy chicken parmesan recipe that doesn’t require frying, you’ve come to the right place! This healthier version is simple, delicious, and a family favorite. The chicken is oven-baked until golden, then topped with tomato sauce and melted mozzarella cheese.

Although some people call this Chicken Parmigiana, it’s not quite the same. In this recipe, we skip eggs and frying.

Ingredients

  • 2 chicken breasts, cut into 6 fillets

  • Mozzarella cheese

  • Parmesan cheese

  • Panko breadcrumbs

  • Tomato sauce

  • 2 tbsp butter (melted) or olive oil

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Cut chicken breasts into fillets and season with salt and pepper.

  • Brush each fillet with melted butter (or olive oil). This step helps the coating stick.

  • In a bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs with grated parmesan. Coat the chicken fillets in the mixture.

  • Place the breaded fillets on a baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes.

  • Remove from oven and top each fillet with 1 tablespoon of tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese.

  • Return to the oven for 5 minutes, or until the cheese melts.

  • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.
